WEEK 2 DESIGN

Swiss Style (International Typographic Style)

In this week’s design blog, I will continue exploring the second design style in the list => Swiss Style.

Originating in Switzerland in the 1950s, the Swiss Style, also known as the International Typographic Style, revolutionized graphic design with its focus on clarity, objectivity, and readability. Pioneered by designers like Josef Müller-Brockmann and Max Bill, this movement emphasized the use of grid systems, clean sans-serif fonts, and an alignment-focused layout.

The Swiss Style stood for a design that transcended cultural boundaries, prioritizing universal communication through design. Its influence is evident in much of the 20th-century's visual communication, from corporate branding to public signs, and continues to inspire contemporary graphic design with its timeless principles of simplicity and functionalism.
